Fishing report 1/30/13

Fishing in 28-31 feet of water. The bite has picked up and numbers of fish caught are increasing. Walleye are suspending and electronics are helping to get them hooked up. A glowing and  light weight presentation has been producing the most. The deadstick still seems to be doing very well. We are getting a greater number of tullibee caught, so have fun with them.
We are planning to pull some houses up to the reefs soon. There is currently a large pressure ridge to deal with, so we need to work on that. Once we have houses moved we will offer reef fishing for $110 per person per day. This includes transportation to and from the reefs. These houses are on a first come first serve basis, so give us a call to book your reef house!
Happy Fishing!

1/24/13 fishing report

The bite has increased slightly with the pressure stabilizing. Fish are still suspending so electronics are highly recommended. Use a small glow jig with bait to attract them in. However, they seem to be biting on the live bait deadstick. Bouncing the bottom a few times then bringing it up a 2-3 feet is also getting some follow and bite action.
We have our Pine Island road plowed out to about 24 feet of water. Off the main road is a wheel house row at 9 miles and another at 12 miles past the crossing, 32 and 35 feet of water respectively.
Stay warm stay safe, and happy fishing!

Brr cold and fishing

Brr...We woke up to negative temps this morning and extreme wind chills.
Fishing has picked up over the last couple days. We moved our houses again. They are in 33-35 feet of water. Catching small sauger is still common but now there is a good mix of keeper walleye too. Slot fish are more readily caught now also.
Jigging gold and pink is drawing them in but the deadstick and live bait is what they are striking.
Our road is in great shape. However, the wind is strong which can cause big drifts at any time. If you head out on the ice road be sure to have extra layers and the resort phone number with you.
Stay safe and happy fishing!

Fishing 1/15/13

Thank you to those that were with us over the past weekend. We at Cyrus do our best to keep the customers happy but this was beyond our control. We had 1" of rain followed by snow and strong winds overnight Friday. It took most of Saturday and Sunday to dig everything out and get the road back up to our standards. Many people didn't get to their fish houses until much later than planned. We apologize for any inconvenience and greatly appreciate your patience!
We have our road out about 9 miles now and about 34' of water. There are 2 wheel house roads off that and one road that goes over by pine island. The pine island road is out to about 24' of water.
Fishing has been off and on over the last few days. Morning and evening are the best bite times. Dead sticks with a live minnow are still producing the best results.
Thanks again for your patience. Stay safe and happy fishing!

Fishing report 1/11/13

Fishing yesterday into today has picked up. The dead stick with chubs seems to be the best producer. 7-8 miles out in 33' of water is the best area. We do now have a branch of our road plowed towards Pine Island out to 20' of water, for those that want to try over there.
Over a 24 hour period we are expecting a 60 degree temperature change. So hold on tight as this change might take us for a wild ride.
Thanks for fishing with Cyrus and good luck!

1/9/13 Fishing and Road Report

Fishing over the last few days has been inconsistent. 33' has been the best depth. Using a glow jig with frozen on one line and a dead stick with live chub is still producing results. There are still many small sauger to pick through. When the walleyes hit they are usually nice sized eaters or even slot fish. Be persistent and use electronics to get the best results.
Our road is now open to all vehicles! Please drive slow and follow the posted route.
Thanks for everyone's patience and understanding. Happy fishing!

Road now open to 3/4 ton pick-ups

We are now allowing 3/4 ton pick-ups out! We are not allowing 1 tons, suburbans, or excursion size vehicles yet.
Fishing in the morning has been slower, but the afternoon bite has picked up greatly. Good #'s and sizes of sauger, with some eyes mixed in.
Don't forget, we sell live chubs, frozen shiners, tackle...and have a full bar and restaurant!
Stay safe and happy fishing!

Ice fishing report 1/2/13

Fishing was much better today than it has been over the last few days. We moved many of our houses towards the north. A fathead on a dead stick was great today. Still many small sauger to pick through, but the number of keepers has increased. The walleye bite was a little harder to find. The ones that were caught were of much nicer size. Be persistent and patient and you should come out with some nice fish.

Happy New Year and happy fishing!

Road update 1/1/13

We have moved our bridge and are now spanning the new crack. So we are allowing people to come up with 1/2 pick-ups or smaller. Still no Suburban, Tahoe or 3/4 ton vehicles. We will also allow you to pull your wheel houses out.
We are asking everyone to keep their speed at 20 MPH and a safe distance between vehicles.

Thanks for your patience and understanding!
