Reel in the walleyes this week as slot and trophy fish are dominating the bite, with good limits to take home. From Long Point, Zippel Bay or Graceton Beach try 16-20 or 32 feet jigging. Drift with crawler harnesses in the afternoon. Morris Point and Pine Island doing well jigging 25-30. Good reports heading North to the sand bars of Little Oak, West Bar, and Bridges pulling hammered gold spinners with crawler, leech or minnow. Gold, pink and orange are the hot colors this week.

We had a wet and windy weekend. The lake is the highest its been since 2005 and the Rainy River is the highest its been for 85 years. Our boats that went out fought the waves and caught fish on the North side of the lake. Mostly they were drifting with spinners around Knight, Bridges and Garden Islands in 24-30 feet of water. If you plan on fishing the South side of the lake it would be a good idea to mix up your fishing methods. Drifting with spinners and crawler harnesses has been productive, but many anglers are still anchoring and jigging in front of Long Point, Twin Islands, Zipple Bay, Morris Point and Lighthouse Gap. Gold, pink, chartreuse and orange have been good colors and we sell frozen shiners, leeches and night crawlers at the lodge.

Great fishing in many depths in the last week. Walleyes slowly moving to deeper waters after the spawn. Jigging in 28-30 feet of water from Long Point to Graceton beach, or drifting with spinners 14-16 feet has been productive. In 12-20 feet in front of Morris Point Gap heading towards Lighthouse Gap have been doing well. Trolling crankbaits in 6-14 feet along Pine Island also good. Hot colors this week include gold, chartreuse, pink, orange or a combination of those tipped with a frozen shiner! I hope everyone is enjoying their summer!!

Anglers fishing the lake haven't had to travel too far to find fish. We've seen many limits, slot fish, huge northerns and trophy walleyes caught this week. The best luck has been in 10 to 24 feet of water in Four Mile Bay, the Lighthouse Gap and the Morris Point Gap anchored and jigging. Gold jigs have been working the best!!
