Ice Report from Saturday 11/23/13
The bay ice is here to stay! Roger checked
Bostic Bay today and we have 5-7 inches of ice all the way to Morris
Point! The lake has ice as far as the eye can see. Most likely only an
inch or two (not safe to venture out). We are expecting cold
temperatures for the next few days so hopefully we will be fishing soon!
More updates coming soon!!

The ice is coming
I am happy to report that Bostic Bay is completely frozen over. In areas the ice is very thin, but other spots look to be about an inch thick.
It doesn't look like the main lake is freezing yet. That is probably because of the strong winds we have had lately.
The weather forecast shows us staying around freezing for the high over the next few days. That should be really good for making ice.
Stay tuned! We will keep you up to date on any condition changes and anticipation of dates for first ice.

Hard water coming soon
Thank you for a great summer! Our lodge is currently closed. We will be reopening December 5th. We are still renting cabins at a discounted rate of $40per person per night.
Current Fishing Report -
Fishing continues strong this week on both the lake and river. As water temps continue to cool, walleye are becoming more active following the food source. Plenty of eaters and fish to fill limits on the lake. Anchor and jig in 18-24 feet at Lighthouse Gap, 4 Mile Bay, or Long Point. Light colors such as white and glow have been best tipped with a frozen shiner.
On the Rainy River, the shiners and walleye continue their journey upstream. Fish are on from the Gap to Birchdale; hot spots including the Airport and Frontier landing. Anchor and jig with a gold spinner on a bottom bouncer or pink jigs tipped with live minnows. Try 12-16 feet or 19-21. Reportedly, the best bite has been just before dark, but fish have been on all day.

Fall Fishing is great!
The emerald shiners are moving into shallow waters and even the river.
In the early morning or evening jig with a pink or gold head and a minnow. Try 8-12 feet of water just outside the Morris Gap or off Pine Island.
The midday bite is still strong with downriggers in the mud of Zipple Bay or just off the snowmobile trail. The depth of 25-30 feet of water has been good.

Moving In
We are starting to see some shiners moving in shallower. Which means the walleye will follow. Midday bite has been in 28-30 feet of water either jigging a frozen shiner or down rigging crank baits. Both Zipple area and Long Point are producing good numbers.
The evening action has increased in 8-15 feet of water. This seems to be best jigging with a shiner. Gold has been the color of choice with pink a close second.
The river is also open for sturgeon action. A group of crawlers seems to be showing some good results.
September-October dates are filling up, so call now and enjoy discounted fall rates!

HOT! HOT! HOT!
Both in temperature and in fishing.
The morning and midday has been good in 33-35 feet of water on the mud flats. Drift with a spinner and crawler, or even trolling a crank bait. In the later afternoon or evening the fish seem to be coming in shallower. Jigging at 10-15 feet of water. The Pine Island rocks or closer to the Zipple Bay area has been good also.
Heading north is still doing well. Both the north and south side of Garden has shown success. Again they are drifting with spinners and crawlers for the most action. 25-32 feet of water.
Come visit is Sunday Sept. 1 for the 2nd annual Pork Roast. $11.00 per person gives you a hearty portion of pork, coleslaw, salad and dessert. Starts at 3pm and runs until gone. All proceeds benefit Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society.

Updated fishing report 8/1/13
This week has shown an increase in activity. 34-35 feet of water has been the best. Between the Canadian line and snowmobile trail, or straight out from Pine Island. Crawlers on a harness, jigging with frozen shiners or downrigging are all getting results.
On the north end Little Oak has been showing good numbers. Knight or Bridges are also producing nice fish. The same presentation up there as on the south end.
We hope everyone stays safe. Happy Fishing!

Fishing Report 7-5-13
The warm calm weather has been great for yard work but not for fishing. Things have slowed a bit, but there are still plenty of fish being caught.
Morris gap and lighthouse gap are still active in the morning and evening hours. Shallow water during, around 18-22 feet, during these hours are getting results. Use a jig and frozen shiner for the action.
33-34 feet of water between the Canada line and snowmobile trail has been good during the day. Again, jig with a frozen shiner works, or try crawlers and drifting.
The islands are producing around the drop off area in 30-32 feet of water. Jig and minnow has been the best up there also.
Some people are starting to down-rig with a success. This will become an increasing trend over the next week or two.

Fishing Report 6-27-13
Morris Gap and Graceton Beach areas have been the good the last few days. Fish are biting in the 20-30 feet range. Drift with a crawler or jig with a frozen shiner.
Garden Island is still producing fish too. Drifting a spinner seems to be the best answer up there.
Still many slot fish are being netted. Most people are limiting out as well.
Enjoy another great weekend on the big water, and happy fishing!

Fishing Report 6/25/13
Fishing on the south end of the lake has slowed down a little, but is still decent. Action is increasing on a spinner and crawler while drifting. Early morning and late evening bites are still the best. 20-24 feet of water early, with 12-20 feet for the evening bite.
Fishing the islands has stayed consistent. Many slot size fish along with a good mix of keepers are being caught. Jigging frozen minnows, or drifting the edge of the drop with leeches or crawlers.
Be careful when in either Morris Gap or Lighthouse Gap. There are a lot of logs stuck just under water because of the extensive rains.
The weather looks great over the next few days. Highs in the 80's and light winds. Come enjoy some fabulous fishing and great family fun!

Fishing Report 6-18-13
Fishing on the south end is still good. 6-20 feet of water off Pine Island. Drifting with a spinner and night crawler has been the best producer. The fish are biting lightly, so stay aware for the small nibble.
Fishing off the west bar of Garden Island or west side of Little Oak Island are also great areas to try. Drifting with a crawler is working up there as well.
Best of luck and happy fishing!

Fishing report 6-12-13
Fishing is decent. The morning and evening bite have definitely been the best. Pink, orange or gold are colors to start with. The fish seem to be a little deeper, around 22-28 feet of water. A frozen shiner on a jig works good, or trolling with a spinner has improved too.
Fishing off Garden, Knight or Bridges islands and the reefs have been really good also. Find the edge of the reef and jig with a leech or shiner in 20 feet of water.
This weekend looks like great summer weather (finally). Low winds and highs in the 70s. Join us on the deck for a cold beverage after your day on the lake! Happy fishing.

Fishing Report 6/5/13
Fishing is still very active. The walleye are taking a midday nap from 12-2 but the rest of the day hours have been good.
Anchoring with gold or pink jigs and a frozen shiner or leech is working. Some are also trolling with spinners and having success.
Fish are being marked in 10-28 feet of water. Today 20 seems to be a good depth. However yesterday 16 was great. Move around if you are not finding the fish. Don't be afraid to leave the pack and try somewhere no one else is at.
Starren Shoals is also producing a good number of walleye. The edge of the drop around 20 feet of water is working good for that area.
An average high of 68º over the next 5 days and a low wind makes for great fishing conditions.
Best of luck and happy fishing!

Fishing report 5/30/13
Fishing has slowed slightly, but is still steady. Most are anchoring and jigging outside Morris or Lighthouse Gap.The depth to be in is 12-16 feet of water. Orange, chartreuse, or pink glow jigs with a frozen shiner is getting the action. Leeches are producing strikes as well. Garden Island is also starting to pick up off the point of Starren Shoals.
Weather over the weekend might require some rain gear. Friday is the wettest and warmest of the three days with a 60% chance of storms and winds in the 10-12 mph range with a high of 71º. Saturday has a 30% chance of showers with a high in the low 50º range. A little gustier wind though, around 15 mph. Sunday should be the nicest day. A low wind speed and low chance of rain. Sunny with a high of 60º looks great!

Rain, rain, rain, SUN!
After three straight days of rain we finally have a beautiful sunny day. We received a few inches of rain over those days which made the river and bay muddy. Once you get out past the gap the water clears up. The clear water in front of Pine Island has been today's hot spot. Fishing in 10-12 feet of water. Glow pink and chartreuse are, again, the best colors along with a frozen shiner. The number of keepers is increasing with slot fish and larger thrown into the mix.
The forcast going into the holiday weekend looks great! An average high of 64º over the next four days with light winds and sunny skies.
Come join us for some great fishing, great food and a lifetime of memories!

5/20/13 fishing report
Fishing remains good. Slot fish are still being caught in high numbers with many keepers in the mix. Continue fishing in shallow, about 6-12 feet of water. Color isn't as important as having your jig glow.
Today is windy and rainy, and tomorrow looks about the same. Wednesday dries up with low wind. Thursday into the weekend look nice.
We are looking forward to beautiful weather and fabulous fishing this holiday weekend. Happy Fishing!

Fishing report 5/17/13
Fishing is still great. 6-12 feet of water has been producing the most just outside Morris gap. Some people are doing well in the river also. Chartreuse or pink glow with a frozen shiner is getting the most action. There are a lot of slot fish caught, so a limit might take a while to get. Trophy fish are abundant right now too.
Weather over the weekend is supposed to be cloudy with chance of rain. High temps in the 68º range and light wind around 10 mph.
Sounds like the perfect fishing conditions. Good luck and happy fishing!

Fishing Report 5/13/13
Although the weather was cold and windy walleye opener was a success! Boats were able to reach the lake (in the shallows) or fish on Four Mile Bay. The action was good and consistent throughout the day. It was hard to get a limit of fish because too many fish were in the slot or larger. Although I don't know many people that would complain about a good day of catching slot fish.
The fish have been biting in shallow, around 8-10 ft of water. Frozen shiners with a glow jig is getting the most action. Jig color seemed unimportant.
The weather for the next few days looks like an improvement. Today (Monday) cloudy with a chance of rain, but a high of 68º. Tuesday will have a slight chance of storms but a warm 77º high and gusts of 20 mph out of the south. Wednesday looks to be a great day! 70º high with NW winds at 15 mph.
Happy fishing! We can't wait to see you on the water.
