Our road is open, plowed 3 miles onto the lake and we are fishing 30-32' feet of water catching big numbers of small walleye and saugers. The weather has made the month of February very challenging for our plow drivers and transportation on the lake. A huge thank you to all of our customers and friends for your cooperation and patients during the blizzards we have encountered. We have a little over a month left and we are anticipating an awesome Macrh! Thank you and see you soon!!

Fishing has been hit or miss the last couple days. We've had a few good reports of groups catching limits and nice slot fish, but a good amount of the reports have been fishermen taking only a hand full home per day. Most groups have been catching on average 2-3 slot fish through out the day and most of them have been getting into a good amount of tulipee. Our ice road is in good shape for the weekend. We have plenty of spots plowed for wheel houses in a variety of different depths. Today we have rows plowed at 5.7, 9.5, 13.1 and 13.4 miles. We are selling frozen shiners and fathead minnows in the lodge. Have a great weekend and check out Cal Lund's slot fish pictures below! Thanks for sharing Cal!!

The last couple days we've been catching more walleye than sauger. A few fish over 28" and a lot of slot fish! We are in 34 feet of water jigging with gold and pink lures and gold flying ants on a dead stick (bobber line). A few nice northerns too! Please share with your friends. We have a couple more months of ice fishing left. Hope to see you here!!

Fishing has been great the last few days. Our ice road is plowed out 6 1/2 miles onto the lake with many spots plowed for wheel houses and portables. We have had the best luck catching more walleyes than saugers between 30 and 32 feet of water gigging spoons with emerald shiners. We are expecting warmer temperatures for the weekend and hoping the fishing stays strong!

Happy New Year!

We have found fishing has been the best 3 miles out of our road in 28-31 feet of water. Fishing a dead stick with a gold or pink jig and jigging with a pink stop sign. We have 17-19 inches of ice on the lake and most of our groups are coming in with their limits. Please stop into the lodge to see us and we are selling road passes for $10 per day and buckets of 4-5 dozen live shiners also for $10. Stay warm and let us know if we can help in any way!

Merry Christmas!!

We currently have 15 inches of ice on the lake. Our plan is to open our ice road Thursday December 26th to 3/4 ton vehicles and smaller. Most of our groups have been catching limits of walleye and sauger along with large numbers of small fish, massive slot walleyes and other species that Lake of the Woods has to offer. We are off to a great start this season and are looking forward to another great few months. Thank you for your business and friendship!

Merry Christmas,

The road is still closed to anything larger than a mid size vehicles. We are still not letting 1/2 ton pickups out of our access. We are pulling wheel houses out and letting the fisherman follow us in their MIDSIZE vehicles. The road was getting close to being ready, and then this morning we had a crack show up 4 inches wide. We are hoping it will heal up fast, and then we will see what it looks like on the 26th. Fishing is great from 24 to 28 ft with 15 inches of ice on the road now, so we're getting real close! Thank you for your cooperation. We will post again as soon as our road opens. Please be safe fisherman!

Dec 14th report the bay is ready for traffic BUT the lake is not yet its getting real close to turn you guys and gals loose hopefully by next weekend. When we do open the road the wheel houses will need to stay where we have the spots plowed for you if you venture off through the snow and go where you want you're gonna find trouble so hopefully everyone stays where the wheel house rows are made. Thanks for your patience, more later

Decemeber 9th

We had a great weekend! This is a 27.5" walleye caught and released on Sunday from the Janson party. We have 10 inches of ice on the lake and our groups have been doing the best between 20 and 24 feet of water jigging with flying ant jig and stop signs. Our access is open to 4-wheelers, snowmobiles and side by sides. Stop in and see us at Cyrus! Our lodge is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner!!

Wheel house update

The snow made conditions very interesting on the lake. Four wheelers are having a little trouble in the snow so we are recommending transportation by snowmobile. There won't be any wheel houses going through our access this weekend due to the slush and snow on the ice. We are renting out day fish houses this weekend and allowing people through our access with portables. This storm was a little bump in the road, but it is early so we are staying positive!

Thursday December 5th
Ice and snow conditions: From Tuesday and Wednesday's snow storm we accumulated approximately a foot of snow. There is some slush on the lake, but as long as our fisherman going out of Cyrus stay on our staked trail with their wheelers and snowmobiles travel is safe. We have 8-10 inches on ice in Bostic Bay. 7-8 inches on the lake out to 20ft of water. We are not recommending anyone to go any further than where we have staked on the trail for now.

Fishing report: Fishing has been the best in the afternoon within 17-19ft of water with glow red gem-n-eye with live shiners and a bobber. Also, jigging with a stop sign and 1/2 of a minnow. Catching all sizes of fish. Nice keepers, slot fish, over 28" and a lot getting let go! Action is fast! Good luck and be safe!!

Ice Report from Saturday 11/23/13

The bay ice is here to stay! Roger checked Bostic Bay today and we have 5-7 inches of ice all the way to Morris Point! The lake has ice as far as the eye can see. Most likely only an inch or two (not safe to venture out). We are expecting cold temperatures for the next few days so hopefully we will be fishing soon! More updates coming soon!!

The ice is coming

I am happy to report that Bostic Bay is completely frozen over. In areas the ice is very thin, but other spots look to be about an inch thick.
It doesn't look like the main lake is freezing yet. That is probably because of the strong winds we have had lately.
The weather forecast shows us staying around freezing for the high over the next few days. That should be really good for making ice.
Stay tuned! We will keep you up to date on any condition changes and anticipation of dates for first ice.

Hard water coming soon

Thank you for a great summer! Our lodge is currently closed. We will be reopening December 5th. We are still renting cabins at a discounted rate of $40per person per night.

Current Fishing Report -

Fishing continues strong this week on both the lake and river. As water temps continue to cool, walleye are becoming more active following the food source. Plenty of eaters and fish to fill limits on the lake. Anchor and jig in 18-24 feet at Lighthouse Gap, 4 Mile Bay, or Long Point. Light colors such as white and glow have been best tipped with a frozen shiner.
On the Rainy River, the shiners and walleye continue their journey upstream. Fish are on from the Gap to Birchdale; hot spots including the Airport and Frontier landing. Anchor and jig with a gold spinner on a bottom bouncer or pink jigs tipped with live minnows. Try 12-16 feet or 19-21. Reportedly, the best bite has been just before dark, but fish have been on all day.

Fall Fishing is great!

The emerald shiners are moving into shallow waters and even the river.
In the early morning or evening jig with a pink or gold head and a minnow. Try 8-12 feet of water just outside the Morris Gap or off Pine Island.
The midday bite is still strong with downriggers in the mud of Zipple Bay or just off the snowmobile trail. The depth of 25-30 feet of water has been good.
Fall bite is always great, come up and see us!

Moving In

We are starting to see some shiners moving in shallower. Which means the walleye will follow. Midday bite has been in 28-30 feet of water either jigging a frozen shiner or down rigging crank baits. Both Zipple  area and Long Point are producing good numbers.

The evening action has increased in 8-15 feet of water. This seems to be best jigging with a shiner. Gold has been the color of choice with pink a close second.

The river is also open for sturgeon action. A group of crawlers seems to be showing some good results.

September-October dates are filling up, so call now and enjoy discounted fall rates!

HOT! HOT! HOT!

Both in temperature and in fishing.

The morning and midday has been good in 33-35 feet of water on the mud flats. Drift with a spinner and crawler, or even trolling a crank bait. In the later afternoon or evening the fish seem to be coming in shallower. Jigging at 10-15 feet of water. The Pine Island rocks or closer to the Zipple Bay area has been good also.

Heading north is still doing well. Both the north and south side of Garden has shown success. Again they are drifting with spinners and crawlers for the most action. 25-32 feet of water.

Come visit is Sunday Sept. 1 for the 2nd annual Pork Roast. $11.00 per person gives you a hearty portion of pork, coleslaw, salad and dessert. Starts at 3pm and runs until gone. All proceeds benefit Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society.

Updated fishing report 8/1/13

This week has shown an increase in activity. 34-35 feet of water has been the best. Between the Canadian line and snowmobile trail, or straight out from Pine Island. Crawlers on a harness, jigging with frozen shiners or downrigging are all getting results.

On the north end Little Oak has been showing good numbers. Knight or Bridges are also producing nice fish. The same presentation up there as on the south end.

We hope everyone stays safe. Happy Fishing!
